Mourinho is under increasing pressure after being charged with misconduct by the FA following his dismissal during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham – a result which leaves the champions 15th in the table having lost five of their 10 league fixtures this season.
The former Real Madrid boss received a public vote of confidence last month, though Chelsea have now planned to review Mourinho’s position during the international break in two weeks’ time.
But Lampard – who was one of Mourinho’s star players during the Portuguese’s first spell at Stamford Bridge – says club owner Roman Abramovich should back the coach given his trophy record in West London.
